The GlobalTop Gms-u1LP is an all-in-one, high sensitivity, small SMD (surface mount device) and low power consumption GPS antenna module. It is based on the MediaTek MT3329 GPS chip that supports up to 66 channels with -165 dBm sensitivity and 10 Hz maximum fix update rate for precise GPS signal processing under weak signal, high speed conditions.
The Gms-u1LP comes with a power saving switching mode power supply (SMPS) that can help reduce the overall GPS power consumption by over 30% when compared to the previous generation.
Besides using an integrated ceramic POT (patch on top) antenna for reception, the Gms-u1LP also provides an external antenna input with automatic antenna switching once the connection to an external antenna is established and detected. The external antenna pin limits the current drawn to a safe level when a short-circuit condition is detected.
The major advancements in power saving, coupled with flexible GPS firmware customization for enhancing the overall processing efficiency (such as binary mode and 1-sentence mode), its small size and I/O versatility make this simple-to-integrate module the ideal solution for the next generation of mobile and embedded devices.
